Gosfield Hall Wedding Venue in Essex

Gosfield Hall is a country house in Essex that dates back to 1545, when Sir John Wentworth, from Cardinal Wolsey’s household, had it built. Queen Elizabeth I and her royal entourage visited there often. King Louis XVIII and his queen, Marie-Josephine-Louise of Savoy, came to live there after the French Revolution, with over 350 courtiers and attendants. Today, it is one of the properties of Country House Weddings Ltd.

While the manor offers a number of different backdrops for a wedding, the Queen Charlotte’s gallery, panelled with oak, has an aisle measuring 120 feet in length that is ideal for ceremonies. The carriageway is a fabulous locale for outside ceremonies when weather permits. The former ballroom of the Marquis of Buckingham gives you a beautiful venue for as many as 116 guests, although there are several other ornate reception spaces. When you hire the house, you get the entire property, so you can accommodate as many as 250 guests for an evening wedding event. While the property is in the middle of rural Essex, it is just a 30-minute drive from Stansted Airport as well as the M-11 motorway to London, so it is an easily accessible venue – and a glamorous one.
