Sopwell House Wedding Venue in Hertfordshire

Sopwell House Wedding Venue in Hertfordshire

Sopwell House is an historic Georgian country home that has its origins as far back as 1604 but took its present form in the 17th century, as master mason Edward Strong, who worked on Blenheim palace and St Paul’s Cathedral, built his own home on the grounds. The house underwent expansion during the late 1800s, and in 1969 it was sold for conversion to a hotel.

Located in St Albans, Sopwell House is in an ideal location for convenient travel from London for the big weekend. The venue has a licence for civil ceremonies with as many as 300 guests able to attend, which means that both the wedding and the reception can take place on site. The events team at Sopwell House has decades of experience planning the sort of special days that will make memories for a lifetime. You are free to choose either an outdoor wedding with a marquee among the 12 acres of gardens, or choose a more conventional wedding inside one of the available venues. Either way, Sopwell House will prove to be the perfect venue for the biggest day of your life and the perfect setting to catch your wedding on film.
